The lustrous voices of local jazz artists Dianne Donovan, Mady Kaye, and Beth Ullman, known collectively as the Beat Divas, soar in a stunning, carefully orchestrated live recording from Austin\u2019s newest (only?) jazz supper club, Reed\u2019s. From standards like \u201cStraighten Up and Fly Right\u201d to bebop and a vocally thrilling tribute to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/madykaye.com\/beat-divas\/reviews\/#\">John Coltrane<\/a>\u00a0(\u201cThere Once Was a Man Named John\u201d), the Beat Diva\u2019s sharp harmonies, clear voices and mature, nuanced delivery is a marvel. Although recorded live, there\u2019s no sense of spontaneity in\u00a0<strong>Live at Reed\u2019s<\/strong>, but that\u2019s not a bad thing.
